Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026 for Schools

Schools are being encouraged to participate actively in the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026 and Special Campaign 6.0 through waste management, environmental awareness, student participation and e-waste management activities.

The Swachhata Hi Seva activities are scheduled from 15 September to 2 October 2026, while Special Campaign 6.0 activities continue from 15 September to 31 October 2026.

The initiative provides an opportunity for schools to turn waste-management concepts into practical learning activities. Students can learn about waste segregation, responsible disposal, Solid Waste Management Rules, e-waste and environmentally responsible habits through their school's Eco Club activities.

Four Waste Segregation Bins in Schools

One of the major activities under the campaign is to establish a four-bin waste segregation system in schools. Schools should arrange four separate bins in green, blue, red and black colours and create awareness among students about proper waste segregation.

Waste segregation at the source can help students understand that different categories of waste require different methods of collection, recycling, processing or safe disposal. Schools can display the available awareness posters near the waste-bin area so that students can easily identify the appropriate bin.

For Teachers: Download or view the available waste segregation posters from the Swachhata Hi Seva resource page and display them near the four-bin waste segregation area for better student awareness.

SWM Rules 2026 Quiz and Certificate

Students should be encouraged to participate in the quiz related to Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules 2026 through the Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE platform.

The activity can help students learn about responsible waste management while making environmental education more interactive. Schools may guide students through the activity and encourage eligible participants to complete the quiz and obtain the available certificate.

E-Waste Corner and Awareness Activity

Schools should establish a dedicated E-Waste Corner or E-Waste Collection Bin and conduct awareness activities related to electronic waste during the campaign period, particularly from 15 September to 30 September 2026.

The activity can be used to explain what e-waste is, why electronic waste should not be mixed with regular household or school waste, and why responsible collection and authorised recycling are important.

Schools can create an identifiable e-waste collection point where suitable discarded electronic items are collected for further responsible handling according to applicable instructions.

Activities Schools Can Organise

Schools can make the campaign more engaging by organising student-centred activities related to cleanliness, waste segregation and environmental responsibility. Activities may include poster-making, slogan-writing, quizzes, classroom discussions, awareness rallies, workshops, demonstrations on waste segregation and e-waste awareness sessions.

Students can also be encouraged to explain waste segregation to classmates and family members. Such activities can connect classroom learning with practical environmental action.

Information to Be Recorded and Uploaded

Schools should maintain proper records of the activities conducted under the campaign. Depending on the applicable reporting instructions, information related to awareness activities, workshops, competitions and e-waste collection should be recorded and uploaded.

Keep the following information ready:
  • Date and type of activity conducted
  • Details of awareness programmes or workshops
  • Student participation details where required
  • Photographs or activity evidence where required
  • Details of the E-Waste Corner
  • Quantity of e-waste collected in kilograms
  • Other information required by the State Tracker or Eco Club portal

Campaign Timeline

Activity Period
Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 15 September – 2 October 2026
Special Campaign 6.0 15 September – 31 October 2026
E-Waste Awareness / Collection Activity 15 September – 30 September 2026

Suggested School Action Plan

Schools can begin by identifying suitable locations for the four waste segregation bins and E-Waste Corner. Teachers can then introduce students to waste segregation and SWM Rules through classroom discussions and available learning resources.

After the basic setup, schools can conduct the quiz, competitions, workshops and awareness activities. Photographs and required records should be maintained during the activities rather than collecting all information at the end of the campaign.

Finally, the required campaign information should be uploaded to the relevant State Tracker and Eco Club for Mission LiFE platform according to the applicable reporting instructions.

Important: Schools should follow the latest official instructions available on the Eco Club for Mission LiFE portal and instructions issued by the concerned education authorities. Reporting fields, activity requirements or portal procedures may be updated.
